Experiment 01 — Stream offline · starting soon

A hen house run entirely by machines. On camera, all day.

We are building a small egg farm where no human is in the loop: feeding, water, light, climate, egg collection and health checks are all handled by software and hardware we control. Then we point a camera at it and leave it on.

01 — Why a farm

It is the smallest real operation we could fully automate and fully record.

Machine57 turns operational records into training data for agents. A farm is a compact, unforgiving version of the problem: living animals, physical actuators, sensors that drift, and outcomes you can count every morning. Every decision the system makes, and every egg it does or doesn't collect, becomes a timestamped record. The stream is so you can check our work.

Inputs

Feed, water, light

Scheduled and sensor-driven. Hoppers, valves and lighting are switched by the controller, with every action logged against the reading that triggered it.

Environment

Climate and air

Temperature, humidity and ammonia are read continuously. Ventilation and heating respond automatically, within limits set for the birds' welfare, not for output.

Outputs

Eggs and health

Eggs roll to a belt and are counted, weighed and imaged. Cameras watch the flock for behaviour changes and flag anything a person should look at.
